Gold Rush

Gold Rush
Hi today I am going to share with you what I have been doing in hurumanu 1.
We were answering questions on a sheets while reading a story.

Questions/Answers:
1. Gold is valuable cause of how pretty it is and how rare they can 
be.

2. Gold is found as very small, flecks in quartz veins of hard rock.

3. You can find alluvial gold in river beds.

4. If you ask and miner where you find gold, they would say "Where it be, there it be"

5. here are all regions where gold is found: West Coast, Otago, South land, Golden bay, Marlborough and Coromandel Peninsulan.

6. I am going to list 4 thing of why golds rare: heavy, shiny, malleable and inert.

7.  here the first European to find gold in New Zealand, there name was Charles King, he came from Tasmanian, Charles King found the gold at Driver creek. at 1852.

8. this is how much gold was found before 2003, 312 tonnes from Coromandel Peninsulan. 274 tonnes from the West Coast and 265 From Otago.

9. here are the dates when the gold rush started in each region: Coromandel started in 1867, Golden bay started in 1860s, Otago started in 1861, and the West Coast started in 1865.

10. I am listing 3 dates all together 2 are major finds, and 1 is a small find: 1870s, 1960s and 1980s.
